Compared to other bars listed below, the Ardbeg Embassy doesn’t possess a very large whisky choice but the place itself is worth the visit. Set within the narrow streets of the charming medieval old town of Stockholm, Gamla Stan, the Embassy offers great Swedish food (Reindeer carpaccio on the menu for meat aficionados) and a wide range of beers.
2. Akkurat
Maybe one of the largest whisky selection in town ! Have a look at the list (available on their website), not sure “wide” or “large” would be enough to accurately describe the variety of whiskies offered. Akkurat may be one of the reasons why I considered moving to Stockholm for a while (along with Kopparberg pear cider and long-blond-haired viking-looking lads… but nobody’s perfect, right ?).
3. Oliver Twist
Located in the popular Soldermaln area and close to Slussen metro station, Oliver Twist is easily accessible wherever you’re staying in Stockholm. There’s a nice outside seating and except its whisky selection, the pub is also famous for its many varieties of beers (and everyone here knows that beer and whisky make good friends !). Hungry ? Then try the BBQ Bourbon Hamburger and finish on a shot of Swedish aquavit liquor.
4. Saddle & Sabre
A true paradise for bourbon enthusiasts ! Knowledgeable staff and more than 200 bourbons available makes Saddle & Sabre a real must-go. Enjoy a drink at the bar seated on a saddle in a traditional atmosphere, American-style decoration while waiting for a table.
