Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old Overview

Product History

Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old is a premium blended Scotch whisky that was introduced in 2019 by John Dewar & Sons. This whisky is part of the Double Double series, which was created by the Master Blender, Stephanie Macleod.

The Double Double series is known for its unique four-stage aging process that gives the whisky its distinct smoothness. The aging process of Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old starts with the blending of two aged whiskies that are at least 32 years old. The blended whisky is then further aged in sherry casks for a period of six months.

After this, the whisky is transferred to a set of American oak casks that have been seasoned with bourbon for a period of six months. Finally, the whisky is finished in a set of virgin American oak casks for a period of six months. This four-stage aging process gives the whisky its unique flavor profile.

Cocktail Suggestions

While I usually prefer to drink Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old neat, there are a few cocktails that I think work well with this whisky.

One of my favorites is the Old Fashioned. The sweetness of the sugar and bitters complement the raisiny sweetness of the whisky, while the orange peel adds a nice citrus note.

Another cocktail that works well with Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old is the Rob Roy. This cocktail is similar to a Manhattan, but uses Scotch whisky instead of rye. The vermouth and bitters bring out the spiciness of the whisky, while the cherry garnish adds a touch of sweetness.

Food Pairings

When it comes to pairing Dewar’s Double Double 32 Years Old with food, I like to stick with rich, savory dishes.

This whisky has a lot of depth and complexity, so it can stand up to bold flavors without being overpowered.

One of my favorite pairings is grilled steak. The smoky char of the meat complements the smokiness of the whisky, while the richness of the steak is a perfect match for the raisiny sweetness of the whisky.

Another great pairing is dark chocolate. The bitterness of the chocolate balances out the sweetness of the whisky, while the richness of the chocolate is a nice contrast to the spiciness of the whisky.
