2 –> Whisky tourism: Success for Tomatin as the distillery celebrated this week a 40% increase in the number of tourists passing through its doors last year compared to 2014. Turnover from the attraction jumped by 50 per cent to £580,000, which is to be reinvested back into the centre, with plans for further facilities on site such as a new film about the distillery and the people that live there. 3 –>Wolfburn Distillery (Northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland – based in Thurso) and Viking Line seal exclusive distribution deal for Northern Europe. The ferry operator will have the exclusive rights to retail the Wolfburn Single Malt Scotch Whisky for the Nordic markets between May 1 2016 and May 1 2017. For Wolfburn, this is also the first time in which a scotch single malt whisky brand has launched exclusively in a travel-retail sector. Read more

4 –> Compass Box is launching a campaign fighting for freedom of transparency in the Scotch whisky industry. The campaign calls for an option for producers to provide ‘full disclosure’: ‘An amendment to the current regulations that would allow producers the freedom but not the obligation to provide complete, unbiased and clear information on every component in their product – with or without a headline age statement outlining the age of the youngest spirit.’ – I am fully supporting this initiative and urge you to register your support as well!

5 –> Sazerac has officially launched the American Bourbon Association Website (after creating the association back in 2012) to help consumers and industry-members have a better understanding of the American spirit. The aim is to educate, and even if powered by Sazerac, I am happy to see that the content of this comprehensive website is not biased toward any particular brand at all. I personally really enjoyed reading the page on common Bourbon myths!
