Speyside’s BenRiach Distillery has today, Tuesday 28 March, launched Batch 1 of its new Peated Cask Strength expression to pair with its classic Cask Strength offering.
In March last year, Batch 1 of BenRiach’s Cask Strength was launched to showcase the raw style of the distillery as sampled at the source: straight from the cask. An exceptional whisky, it earned a Silver Outstanding medal at the 2016 IWSC awards. Today, its peated counterpart has been launched, in keeping with BenRiach’s unconventional approach to making Speyside malt that’s both Classic and Peated in style. Bottled at 56%, of natural colour and non chill filtered, it offers notes of campfire smoke and toasted oak balanced perfectly with BenRiach’s signature orchard fruit and barley notes.
Naturally rich, and specially selected by Master Distiller Billy Walker, BenRiach Peated Cask Strength is destined to delight fans of peated malt as well as those looking for something bold from the Speyside region.
Global Brand Ambassador Stewart Buchanan said: “Our new Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 is an exciting first for the distillery. Made with heavily peated malted barley to produce a unique, smoky expression, it also captures the Speyside character of BenRiach.
“Luscious and smooth, the peat is beautifully balanced with our delicious Speyside notes, and this whisky is a wonderful addition to any malt collectors’ portfolio.”
The BenRiach Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 will be available from specialist whisky retailers soon across markets in Europe and Asia Pacific.
