1. Firkin Gin – Gleann Mor Spirits
Gleann Mor Spirits Company, the independent Scotch whisky bottler, has launched another exciting new spirit. It brings an entirely new twist to an all time classic beverage.
FIRKIN Gin brings a brand new flavour to the renowned original, introducing delicate hints of whisky into the product. This is a result of a slow maturation process in American oak whisky casks.
“We’ve created something very special here. It has set the standard for an entirely new category of aged spirit.” said Derek Mair, Founder of the Gleann Mor Spirits Company. “Whisky and Gin are two of our favourite things, so, naturally, we’ve been eager to experiment with the two. Our juicy American oak casks produce a truly unique flavour and a beautiful golden hue.” (Rubber Lips PR)
Cotswolds Dry Gin has a delectable blend of nine carefully-considered botanicals.
The expression of the traditional London dry style comes from the maceration into our pure wheat spirit of juniper, coriander and angelica root, which have been left for 12 hours to allow their flavour characteristics to fully infuse.
A unique botanical mix of Cotswolds lavender and bay leaf, grapefruit, lime, black pepper and cardamom seed is then added into the carter head still for distillation before finishing with naturally refined Cotswolds water.
The result is a classic well-balanced juniper-led gin with crisp citrus and spice. This gin is delicious on its own and over ice. It’s robust enough to stand up to tonic and smooth enough to craft the ultimate gin martini.
The King of Soho is an authentic London Dry Gin distilled in the heart of London using traditional methods by an 11th generation master distiller. A complex spirit the gin is crafted with twelve botanicals to our unique flavour profile. Created as a tribute to the original ‘King of Soho‘ Paul Raymond by his son Howard.
At 42% ABV this super premium gin is bespoke, smooth and full-bodied; soft juniper, coriander, with a high presence of citrus botanicals including grapefruit peel, balanced by angelica root and cassia.
Quadruple distilled, the gin is crafted in small batches using traditional methods in a steel pot still. Twelve botanicals and neutral grain spirit are mixed with water and left to macerate overnight releasing the flavours from the botanicals. The pot is then slowly heated and the essences of the botanicals are carried in the vapours that pass through the ‘swan’s neck’ to the condenser where they are cooled back to liquid form. Once the distillation is complete nothing but water and additional neutral grain spirit are added thus earning it the designation of ‘London Dry Gin’.
Whilst remaining true to its London Dry heritage the gin has a delicate combination of sweetness, citrus and earthiness and a hint of grapefruit bitterness on the back of the palate.
The gin has a clean and gentle nose which belies its strength that opens up to reveal classic juniper and pine notes with a refreshing zest of citrus oil. The tangy grapefruit reluctantly gives way to soft warming spice.
