Aberlour A’Bunadh batch 60 – $$
“60 batches of A’Bunadh! Aberlour’s incredibly series of heavily-Sherried single malt has reached its 60th batch, and as ever, it’s an delicious dram jam-packed with chocolate, raisin and festive spice notes. Aberlour continue to get their hands on great Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks to mature the whisky in, and we continue to be impressed with each release.”
“Glenfarclas 105 is a superb cask strength whisky, really bold and punchy” and probably my definite go-to when in need of a sherry monster!
Glenrothes sherry cask reserve – $$
“The Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve was introduced to the Speyside distillery’s core range in 2014, and it’s definitely one for the Sherry lovers out there, as this is the first single malt from Glenrothes to be completely matured in first-fill Sherry casks. Yum.”
“An Oloroso sherry matured Glendronach, released under the new ownership of the distillery. Allardice is set to be a success.”
Kavalan Solist Fino sherry cask – $$$$
“The Taiwanese distillery Kavalan matured their incredible single malt whisky in a top quality Fino Sherry cask to produce an exquisite expression, jam packed with bright, fruity notes. Each bottle includes a handsome presentation case and carry bag.”
Teeling Brabazon bottling #1 – $$
“The first release in Teeling’s Brabazon Bottling range, which will explore the impact that fortified wine casks have on the flavour profile of Irish whiskey. This initial bottling features whiskey drawn from six Sherry casks, resulting in big ol’ bundles Sherried deliciousness.”
Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 year old – $$
“This is the 12 year old, Sherry cask finished expression from Glenmorangie, the Lasanta, bottled at a slightly lower ABV of 43% (originally it was bottled at 46%). It first matures in bourbon casks before being moved over to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks for a finishing period. Plenty rich and creamy with dark chocolate, dried fruit and fresh honey.”
“This is the first chance to try whisky produced by the recently re-opened Glenglassaugh Distillery.
It was closed in 1986 but resumed production in 2008. This revival bottling is the first whisky to be made at the distillery since it reopened. Matured in a mixture of first and refill bourbon casks, this was finished for 6 months in first-fill oloroso sherry butts.”
“A Sherry-cask-finished whisky made with buckwheat for the Eddu range, which was initially matured in a Cognac barrel before making its way into a cask that previously held Pedro Ximénez. It was released as part of La Maison du Whisky’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.”
“A new expression in the Redbreast range, introduced in the latter half of 2016. This single pot still Irish whiskey was initially matured in a combination of American and European oak casks for 9 to 12 years, before being transferred over to first fill Oloroso Sherry casks from Bodegas Lustau for a year.”
