As a bourbon enthusiast, I was excited to try Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon. This small-batch bourbon has an intriguing backstory and production process that piqued my curiosity. I found the bourbon to be a delightful addition to my collection and enjoyed learning more about what makes it unique.

The first aspect that caught my attention was the fact that the Bourbon is made from 20 barrels, giving it the small-batch distinction. I also discovered that this bourbon has an undisclosed mash bill and uses Michter’s 103 barrel entry proof, which contributes to its distinct flavor profile.

I was particularly interested in Michter’s use of toasted and charred barrels, which are seasoned for 18 months before being used for aging. This custom filtration process brings out the bourbon’s best flavors that make it so enjoyable to sip.

When it comes to the bottling, I noticed that Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon is bottled at 91.4 proof (45.7% Alcohol by Volume). The bourbon itself is aged in fire-charred, new American white oak barrels, which adds rich and complex flavors to the final product.

The price point of around $40 for a 750ml bottle is quite reasonable, considering the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
