Daftmill 2005 – Inaugural Release

"Image

“The Daftmill distillery has finally released its very first whisky! Founded back in 2005, its Lowland single malt has been of age for a while, and many have wondered when Daftmill whisky would make its way into bottles – but the wait is over. Made with Chariot barley grown on the Daftmill farm, this whisky was distilled in 2005, matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength in 2018. Only 629 bottles of the Daftmill Inaugural Release were produced.”

Jura – The Sound

"Image

“The Sound is the entry level expression from Isle of Jura’s Travel Retail range, all of which feature whisky finished in casks that previous held Pedro Ximénez sherry of various aged. This particular single malt was finished in casks that matured 15 year old Pedro Ximénez sherry. Sadly, there isn’t a whisky in the range called The Fury to pair this with.”

Talisker Bodega Series 40 years old

"Image

“Well, well, well… What do we have here? Only an exceptionally exciting release from Island distillery Talisker made all the more marvellous because it’s the first in a series that forms an “exploration of exceptional sherry cask finishes”. When eventually released, the whole Bodega Series will give lucky sippers an insight into historic wineries of the legendary ‘Sherry Triangle’. First up? 40 year old Talisker made with help from Delgado Zuleta, one of the world’s oldest sherry makers.

It’s not just the whisky that’s four decades old either: the Amontillado sherry previously in the butts was also at least 40 years old. That’s a LOT of flavour packed inside that bottle, remarkable considering the finishing period was just three months (or so)!. It’s all dialled back smoke and amped up fruit – if that sounds like your dram you need to move speedily as only 2,000 bottles have been released globally.”

GlenAllachie 18

"Image

“The GlenAllachie range was relaunched in mid-2018, following Billy Walker (formerly of BenRiach) purchasing the distillery in 2017. This particular release is an 18 year old expression, which was aged in American oak, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks.”

Glen Scotia 2008 – Ruby Port Finish (Campbeltown Fest 2018)

"Image

“A limited edition release from Glen Scotia in celebration of the Campbeltown Malts Festival 2018. This 10 year old single malt combines a fascinating peaty smokiness with intense sweetness coming from a finishing period in Port casks.”

Karuizawa Spirit of Asama

"Karuizawa

“A TWE exclusive release of Karuizawa, part of a vatting of 77 sherry casks bottled at 48% to produce a well rounded and affordable example of the distillery’s character. The casks used for Spirit of Asama were filled in 1999 & 2000.”
