Hey drammers, I feel like it’s been a long time we haven’t tackled some stupid widespread pre-conceived ideas about whisky around here ! And oh boy, as I’ve been spending a lot of time behind the counter of a whisky bar lately, I cannot even count the times I clenched my fists not to explode in anger and risk a 1-star-review on Tripadvisor \ud83d\ude09<\/strong><\/p>\n

–> There’s no such a thing as a “feminine” whisky<\/strong>\/flavour. For f*ck sake, taste buds aren’t on your genitals!<\/p>\n

–> The peaty aroma of your whisky doesn’t come from the water<\/strong>, which even if running through peaty soil before reaching the distillery, hasn’t much influence on the smoky flavour of your Laphroaig or Octomore. –> Older whiskies aren’t necessarily more expensive because they are better<\/strong>. First, taste is subjective, I think I’ve covered that point quite a lot around here. But most importantly, older whiskies cost more in storage to the distillery for lesser product. You’re not without knowing the % of evaporation that goes out to those greedy angels year after year right ?<\/p>\n

So all in all: lesser volume + more expensive production costs =\u00a0 more expensive bottle on the shelves. Thanks Captain Obvious!<\/p>\n
