I can’t believe it’s August already… Hmm July, where the hell have you gone? Ok, so we’re opening our bar (pssst! Follow our adventures on Facebook ! ;)) in a month from now… I’ve always said I liked a good challenge right ? Anyway, you’re not here to hear me complain about wood wool prices or the French administrive slowness, no, let’s talk about whisky instead! What about my usual monthly selection?

Glenallachie Distillery Edition

The Glenallachie Distillery Edition gives some of the spotlight on its label to the Ben Rinnes mountain. Sitting at the foot of the mountain, Glenallachie uses water that comes from a spring 3,000ft up Ben Rinnes’ north-east face.

Port Ellen 33yo – That Boutique-y Whisky Company

It’s the sixth batch of Port Ellen independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and the first to boast an age statement on its label – this right here is a 33 year old single malt from the legendary closed Islay distillery! Also on the label is Jon Beach of Fiddler’s Whisky Bar, looking wistfully out to sea with his trusty filling pipe by his side. Who’s that on the shore? Why, it’s Ben and Jake carrying out some iPed traditions. But wait, isn’t that Jake taking the SS Malt out for a spin on the calm seas too?!

Isfjord Premium Arctic Single Malt No.2

The second whisky release from Isfjord, made using water from Arctic icebergs and distilled in Denmark. This particular expression was produced using peated malt and matured in bourbon casks.

Glenrothes 1976

A 1976 vintage Glenrothes from back when the distillery was home to only six stills – they currently have ten stills! This was filled into second-fill American oak hogshead #2677 in February 1976 and allowed to age until December 2015, when it was bottled with an outturn of just 238 bottles.
