Celebration at Dornoch Distillery<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Dornoch<\/a>‘s two brothers are celebrating seeing the first spirit flow at their new micro distillery<\/a> in the Highlands.<\/p>\n

The start of production in a former fire station beside a hotel owned by their family marks a major milestone for Phil and Simon Thompson, after they raised \u00a3250,000 to launch the\u00a0Dornoch business.<\/p>\n

Aiming to produce nearly 11,000 gallons of alcohol annually, they are now working to establish home and international markets for their gin, vodka and rum as the distillery\u2019s whisky matures.<\/p>\n

The brothers raised \u00a3200,000 from a crowd funding campaign launched in 2015 and also received \u00a334,000 funding from development agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to set Dornoch Distillery<\/a> up. (read more)<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Douglas Laing reveals\u00a0Scallywag 13yo<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Launched as a limited edition, Scallywag 13 Years Old<\/a> has been exclusively matured in Sherry butts and bottled at 46% abv.<\/p>\n

Independent Scotch whisky blender and bottler Douglas Laing launched the Scallywag<\/a> brand in 2013, inspired by the Laing family\u2019s long line of Wire Fox Terriers. The brand, one of Douglas Laing\u2019s Remarkable Regional Malts, is now available in 50 markets around the world.<\/p>\n

Golden Month for Gordon & Macphail’s Glen Grant 1954<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Leading malt whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail is toasting success after receiving top accolades in two of the world\u2019s leading spirits competitions.<\/p>\n

Gordon & MacPhail\u2019s Rare Vintage Glen Grant 1954<\/em><\/a><\/strong> single malt received a double gold award, the highest medal available, in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) after impressing forty-three spirit experts who judged a record-breaking 2,100 entries.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the same whisky<\/a> won a gold medal at the 2017 International Spirits Challenge (ISC), one of the premier events in the spirits calendar. The competition receives more than 1,300 entries from nearly 70 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n
