I had the chance to pay a quick visit to the Black Mountain Whisky guys earlier this week (not sure if that makes up for the Scottish trip I had planned last weekend and sadly had to postpone but hey… ) far deep into the Gers region (Southwest France for those who may not be very familiar with French geography ;)), for a morning warehouse tasting (the best kind of breakfasts right?).

As you may or may not know, Black Mountain (while currently working on their future distillery project) imports its whisky from Scotland and further mature it down here in France within what they refer to as “Southwestern spirits casks” by law – which we all know means Armagnac (#ThanksCaptainObvious).

I’ve heard many things about Black Mountain online (divergent views to be honest), the brand won quite a few awards since a couple of years, they recently released a new smoky expression and they have plenty of exciting projects coming up (I feel very frustrated not to be able to tell you more and tease you like this, sorry…) that I’m sure you’ll quickly hear about them too if you haven’t already!

In the meantime, let’s have an inside look at their small warehouse (along with some inside views of the adjoining Armagnac distillery), litterally in the middle of nowhere, where I felt more than honoured to be the first and only blogger ever admitted 😀
