While staying in Scotland’s capital city, I couldn’t miss a tour of the Edinburgh Gin Distillery.

And after a few failed attempts at booking a tour online (blame the Fringe… Too many people trying to escape the buzzing streets of Edinburgh for an underground ginny escape) – I finally managed to secure a space a few days ago for the Discovery Tour, lasting approx. an hour and including a complimentary G&T at the end [which you get to chose from 2 different expressions. I guess I’ll try their pinkish Valentine’s gin another day :'(]

I had the chance to attend a tour hosted by the dynamic & funny Wee Jamie [if you see this, thanks for your enthusiasm ;)] which actually seemed much more like a gin comedy/one-man-show and wasn’t boring for a second, even when discussing quite serious historical facts like the terrible Gin Craze. This guy really knows how to entertain a crowd, and seriously, it was a real breathe of fresh air to me (I may be too used to technical/geeky tours where people try to show off their knowledge by asking all sorts of unnecessary questions… Not like my questions are more relevant though, but hey, nobody’s perfect ;))

I actually learn quite a few “gin fun facts” which I’ll make sure to compile in a further article for you guys (it’s not very often that you get to actually LEARN stuff from a discovery tour after visiting 156498789 distilleries, so yes, kudos to them for that!)
