Rare whisky has outperformed other investments such as wine and gold, enjoying a record year in 2015.<\/strong><\/p>\n The leading index for scotch whisky, the Rare Whisky Apex 1000, rose by 14% last year, outperforming wine, which fell by 0.4%, gold, which declined by 10%, and many of the world\u2019s leading equity indices. The FTSE 100 index in London lost 4.9% in 2015, while on Wall Street, the S&P 500 edged up 0.7%. In China, the Shanghai Composite gained 9.4%.<\/p>\n The whisky market is booming: the total value of rare whiskies sold at auction in the UK last year was \u00a39.6m, up from \u00a37.6m in 2014, according to consultancy Rare Whisky 101<\/a>. And this drougth may last for a little while…\u00a0 For instance, we may have to wait quite a few years before seeing a Yamazaki<\/a> 18 years old hit the shelves again!<\/p>\n Bourbon is also getting more and more popular<\/strong> amongst investors – you must have heard about the Pappy Van Winkle<\/a> craze, breaking record prices at auctions…<\/p>\n It’s also time to look into the\u00ab\u00a0world whisky\u00a0\u00bb category<\/strong>: some liquid gems could offer investors interesting profits in a few years… It’s already the case with the Taiwanese Kavalan<\/a>, the Canadian Crown Royal<\/a> or the Indian Amrut<\/a> to name but a few.
