As you may have noticed, I had the chance to spend 10 beautiful days touring Scotland with some friends over the festive season.

It was actually the first time I got to travel around the country during wintertime and I was more than excited to discover the colder visage of what I like to call my “home away from home”.

This wintery break lead us to Glasgow, Inverness, Ullapool, Thurso, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, following the below itinerary:

And what best way to make the most out of this experience than riding the Scottish routes in a stylish and oh-so-comfy turnkey campervan. This convenient solution allowed us to stop wherever we wanted for a quick nap/snack/deer-watching-session or whatever you feel like stopping for. See, there’s really nothing like a homemade Orkney cheddar sandwich (along with an ale from the Black Isle Brewery…) on Durness beach, fighting the strong winds and watching the crashing waves…

The awesome chaps from Rockin Vans got just the right, perfectly-convenient campervans for those kinds of trips, even providing you with all the necessary equipment so that you don’t have to pack like you’re moving out or worry about bringing a blanket, pillow, towels, dishes… [Yes, the campervan even comes with a cheese grater for your Orkney Cheddar sandwich]

I tend to be a bit of a Want to cook yourself an omelette at 3.00 in the morning in Glencoe? You can! Want to wash your dishes with a view over the world-famous Loch Ness? Damn you can (probably the most enjoyable dish washing session you’ll ever experience…)!

As there were 6 of us, we rented two campervans but one can perfectly suit 4 people as there are 2 double beds per van. Do not hesitate to visit Rockin Vans’ official website for more information!

Here’s a few pictures from our trip:

Well, it’s time for me to share some yummy spots we visited along the way to quench our whisky/beer thirst or simply indulge with some fine/hearty but still fr**king tasty Scottish cuisine!

Glasgow : Oran Mor for a holy dram in a majestic setting

Inverness : Hootananny for some live music

Loch Lomond Area : The Drovers Inn for some haggis, neeps and tatties in a spooky haunted house

Aberdeen : The CASC Bar for artisan beers, whiskies, tapas and cigars in a relaxed atmosphere

Edinburgh : The Bow Bar for some fine whiskies in the picturesque Old Town

EXTRA: Touring Speyside? Stop at The Speyside Centre for some quintessential Scottish souvenirs and a venison casserole at the Clootie Dumpling Restaurant [The Speyside Centre is also home to The Whisky Lounge, providing whisky tastings and events in a cosy, elegant and Chesterfield-sofa-fuelled atmosphere]

As you may have noticed, I had the chance to spend 10 beautiful days touring Scotland with some friends over the festive season.
