Oh boy, time really is flying ! In less than it takes to say it, we’re already in July and the beaches are already packed with screaming 3-years-old building wobbly sand castles (you can tell they will never graduate in architecture</del>) & their sun-burnt parents lying on bright-colored itchy towels.

Ok, now you want to remove the above picture from your mind, and what better way to make that happen than treating yourself with a wee</del> large dram ? I know summertime may not be the best period to enjoy whisky but hey, it’s a whisky blog!

Here’s my July selection :

1. Octomore 5YO – Edition 07.1

"Octomore

Octomore Edition 07.1 is master distiller Jim McEwan’s swansong after 52 years in the industry. Made using Scottish barley and matured for five years in American oak, this super-heavily-peated whisky is at 208ppm. A big and bold dram what’s a fitting farewell.

2. PL3 – Elements of Islay

"Pl3

Aged in Château Climens casks (a first-growth Sauternes wine), the rich sweetness has helped to create a massively complex and powerful dram. Elegant on the nose as the smoke and soft summer fruit merge, this explodes on the palate with heady peat and sweet juicy raisins – an absolute stunner.

3. Ledaig Dùsgadh 42YO

"LedaigA historic bottling of Ledaig, the peated whisky from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. This contains some of the first spirit to be made at the distillery when it reopened in 1972. The stills have now been retired and the copper from them has been used as part of the packaging. Included in the box is a copper card, which entitles the buyer to a bottle of Déanta 10 Year Old produced from the last spirit to come off these stills when it is released in 2024. A true piece of distilling history

4. BOX advanced Masterclass (SWEDEN)

"boooox"

Sweden’s Box have created the Advanced Master Class series. The first ‘course’ contains five 20cl bottles of the same spirit, each with a different toasting level to highlight the effect this has on the finished whisky. Further courses are planned including different yeasts and warehouse temperatures.

5. Brenne Whisky (FRANCE)

""

AGED IN FRENCH OAK & COGNAC BARRELS Brenne Whisky starts in new Limousin oak barrels before being finished in Cognac casks, giving it a hint of perfumed fruit that sets it apart from other whiskies. (Only available in France & USA)
