Sharing a few drams at Douglas Laing HQ

thewhiskylady - 2016-08-10

I recently paid a wee visit to the team at Douglas Laing HQ and had the pleasure/privilege to dive into some of their finest expressions while listening to the stories of their passionate ambassador Jan Beckers (pssst! Follow him here & here for all things Douglas Laing!) – comfortably seated in their beautifully-decorated Sample Room (which kind of reminded me of Cragganmore’s Club Room & The Family Room at Glenfiddich Distillery… Got this same “stuck in time, very Scottish, mysterious & Chesterfield-sofa-fuelled” atmosphere that makes me feel like throwing a whisky-themed murder party… Please don’t judge me.)

My personal highlights of this tasting session include the Old Particular – Strathclyde Single Grain 10 years old & Old Particular Cameronbridge Single Grain 24 years old (Don’t you notice a grain pattern here? Don’t know why but I’m kind of really attracted to single grain whiskies at the moment and those two quite fitted my “grainy mood”). A particular thumbs-up should go to the Strathclyde 10, finished in sherry casks, boasting a richer and more complex profile with delightful creamy notes of toffee and chocolate *still drooling while writing those lines* – and for a retail price of around 45/50£ a bottle, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Better put your hands on one of those bottles while it’s still available!

You should be used to it by now, my pieces rarely come without personal pictures:
