Whisky tourism : VisitScotland’s new handy guides

thewhiskylady - 2015-04-02

Great news for all the whisky tourists around here ! Whether you’re a first time distillery traveller planning a whisky retreat to the birthplace of uisge beatha or a regular dramming wanderer, I’m more than convinced you’ll find those new guides pretty useful to organise your next tour in Scotland !

VisitScotland, the Scottish national tourism board, just released 5 whisky tourism guides, each one focusing on a particular whisky region : Speyside, Highland, Campbeltown, Lowland & Islay.

Inside those 5 practical eBooks, you’ll find plenty of useful information : directions to the distilleries, opening hours, nearby attractions and even the drams you’ll be able to sample !

Each one of them shows a colourful map on its first page featuring the distilleries (of course…), special points of interest such as castles, mountains, lochs etc. but also airports and ferries. After writing my entire Master’s degree dissertation on “how the Scottish tourism industry should adapt to the growing demand for whisky tours in the country”, I’m more than delighted to see this kind of initiatives being set up by VisitScotland !

Here’s a sneak peak of what you’ll find in the guides :
