What’s on my February Whisky Wishlist ?

While it’s still heavily snowing outside, it’s high time to indulge in some online whisky shopping ! As a sort of monthly ritual, I wandered on The Whisky Exchange and other spirited websites early today to come up with this nice selection :

1. Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky – Japan
Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky

A release of grain whisky from Japan’s Nikka, produced mainly from corn using one of their continuous Coffey stills. Rather than the rare and limited releases they have done before, this is a larger release to further show off this key component in the Nikka family of whiskies.

2.  Teerenpeli 2004 – Finland
Teerenpeli 2004 / 8 Year Old Finnish Single Malt Whisky

The 2004 vintage of Teerenpeli’s 8 year old. Teerenpeli distillery was founded in 2002 in Lahti, Finland. Despite being a distillery in its infancy, the future looks very promising, with the bottlings so far having been very well received

3. Mackmyra Brukswhisky – Sweden
Mackmyra Brukswhisky

An award winning whisky from Sweden’s Mackmyra, based on bourbon cask matured spirit with some sherry casks and fresh Swedish oak in the mix. They also blend in a little of their smoky whisky for a light, well-balanced and fruity dram with a touch of spicy juniper smoke.

4. Overeem Single Malt – Australia
Overeem Single Malt / Sherry Cask #032 / Cask Strength

A high proof sherry cask matured whisky from the Old Hobart distillery in Tasmania, packed full of fruit and spice. The casks are made of French oak and are only 100 litres in size, giving the spirit an extra punch of flavour.

BONUS OF THE MONTH, Valentine’s Day special : Eden.Mill’s LOVE.GIN
LOVE.GIN - 42 abv

A unique recipe with a five core botanicals and eight more exotic flavours (including red rose petals, marshmallow root, goji berries and whole hibiscus flowers). The result is a stunning pale pink colour, has a fruity, floral aroma and a mellow red berry & citrus flavour. Ideal over ice with a wedge of pink grapefruit topped with Fever Tree tonic water.  A serve our distiller Scott has christened the P&T (Pink & Tonic).
